Isaac Albéniz: Cèlébre Serenata Española, Op. 181, trans. Christopher Berg (score)
The OrpheusOnFire edition of this famous piece is in D major (Albeniz's original is in D-flat), which enhances the warm and lyrical qualities of this serenata on the guitar. This edition restores all of Albeniz's phrasing slurs, dynamic markings, and articulation marks, which will help players create an interpretation that places the piece's contrasts in better relief. (There's more about this in the Performance Notes.)
This edition includes detailed fingerings for both hands, refined through years of concert performance.
Albéniz's Cèlébre Serenata Española was composed in 1890. In 1911, this piece (along with three others) was added to the Hofmeister edition of Albeniz's Suite Española, Op. 47, which was first published in 1887. In the Suite Española, it has the title "Cadiz," but it began life as a stand-alone piece.
You'll receive four pages of music, two pages of performance notes, a cover page, and two pages about OrpheusOnFire editions. (9 pages total.)
